THE VOLTAGGIO BROTHERS
I love how the show totally feeds on their brotherly love/rivalry, the epic bitching, the epic older brother/younger brother insecurities, the childhood memories, the whole "I WANT TO BEAT MY BROTHER BUT I ALSO LOVE HIM SO MUCH SO NO ONE'S ALLOWED TO DEFEAT HIM BUT ME" I love how fucking stereotypical it is but I still fell for it...
The older brother: BRYAN VOLTAGGIO
Calm, collected, responsible
The younger brother: MICHAEL VOLTAGGIO
The risk-taker, temperamental, snarky
Now they're making their own business ventures, TOGETHER! VOLTAGGIOBROTHERS.COM has all their blog posts, recipes, and future plans. :P Bryan is such a sap -- read his blogs!
FUCK THEY ARE SO HHHHHOT asfagbaghag; Oh wait, there's another reason I watch Top Chef! Because of the food! Yeah, that's right! Delicious
I also have So You Think You Can Dance on my current watchlist. For j-dramas I watched the season finales of Untouchable and Ohitorisama (Teppei bend over the table and let me FUCK you, now) and I've been rewatching Taiwan's Meteor Garden because I STILL BELIEVE IT'S THE BEST THING EVER. 1. In memory of John's 29th Death Anniversary my friend
yammiedoo and I decided to go to the JOHN LENNON MUSEUM in Saitama, Japan. Here are some of the photos taken by the both of us. :) (She took the pretty ones, I took the crap ones.) I hope you guys enjoy them!

beatlepics!
I was spazzing all throughout the museum tour. Also, I am very very happy! I got a WAR IS OVER (IF YOU WANT IT) shirt that's just the right size, some postcards, and a huge-ass poster of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover, something I've ALWAYS wanted. Also, even if I giggled over John, George, and Ringo in the museum there were moments where I would just caress Paul whenever he was shown, haha. I think I'm a closet-Paul pervert.
2. Probably the best Christmas gift: My sister
kotomine is coming over here in Tokyo to visit for the holidays! ♥♥♥ She's staying here for a week. I'm taking her on my very special Inexpensive Porntastic Tour. And oh, to some temples. Yay!
3. In a fit of inspiration I finally finished all the Christmas Art Gift requests for you horny bastards. And based on what I've done (nudity, nudity, and more nudity) I'm thinking this is the naughtiest Christmas yet! :P
4. Thank you thank you thank you thank you to everyone who gave me snowflake cookies, and to

Dedicated to John Lennon for his 29th Death Anniversary (Dec 8, 1980). Love and peace, Johnny. We miss you.
So you've heard everything about the Beatles. They're the best. They top the charts every single time. They're also overrated, overplayed, overexposed, and overanalyzed to death. Yet when you hear a Beatles' song on the radio your first thought would be "Hey, I know this song." You may not know the title, or that they made it, but you KNOW it. It's like before we were even born we were destined to be able to recognize Beatles songs from out of asses, out of our guts. Our of nowhere. Someone said Beatles songs are ingrained in our souls even before we are out of the womb.( The Beatles WHO? )
( Q: Who is your favourite Beatle? )
* I've been reading books, watching documentaries, movies, and interviews about the Beatles, and I came across probably the most frightening and WTFJESUSWHY Beatles' product of all: TWO OF US (title based on a song by Lennon/McCartney), a BBC TV movie based on this premise: "What if John Lennon and Paul McCartney decided to reunite and rebuild The Beatles?" In short it's a FANBOY'S WET DREAM/FANTASY. No shit.
It's...lulz. Some critics liked it, some didn't, Paul McCartney himself liked it (O_O;). I think it's ok, although it def. needs a lot of improvement. Paul's accent is so American sometimes it's painful to watch, but John's actor did a fairly good job. I think. Most of the time John and Paul were just goofing off in the movie, having fun and I was all 'lol ok' until I reached THE ELEVATOR SCENE.
...And you know what happens in elevators.
So John starts hitting Paul playfully and Paul starts giggling and my eyes literally bulged out of my fucking sockets and I'm like AWKWARD TENSION WHERE IS THIS FROM -- and then John's hits became harder and quicker and I'm like OK WHERE HAVE I SEEN THIS BEFORE? next thing I knew John was pinning Paul on the wall and kissing him, and I screamed. Literally. Paul pushes him away and they're grinning and I replayed the scene again just to check if my eyes aren't making this all up, and then I scream again. And then I replay again --
* What I also love about the Beatles is that they were the biggest camwhores. In animal costumes, drag, dorky swimwear, tights, kinky COSPLAY, bath towels, you name it. Here are some of my favourite WTF WHAT IS THIS Beatles' pics, like this gem:

P-PAUL.

HELP! The Movie
A Hard Day's Night was a fun, experimental, sometimes eccentric documentary-style movie about an ordinary day for The Beatles. The Beatles are funny, witty, and it seems like every line they utter is entirely ad-libbed (it was John who ad-libbed the most, but they pretty much stuck to the script). It is considered a collection of the first music videos. (Flight of the Conchords lovingly follows this sort of music video within a narrative experiment). Non-Beatles fans can enjoy their wacky adventures, and Beatles fans would enjoy the music and the fanservice.
( Help! is a continuation of that, and it is pure, unashamed crack. And features tons of weird, if random fanservice. Some of the memorable scenes include: )
Also, because I want to ask you important questions:

MAGIC TEMPLE.
AHAHAHAHAY! May ganon! So go ahead lang pag may nakita kayong maling grammar para aayusin ko kaagad!
( Magic Temple = Balikan ang Nakaraan. Naks! May screencaps at kung anu-anong kalandian )
TRIVIA: The names of the three main characters has national symbolism in it. Jubal is an Igorot, a tribe from Luzon; Sambag is a Visayan word from the Visayas and Omar is a name found among the Moslem tribes of Mindanao. The names, therefore, accounts for the Philippines major islands.

In the internet we see a lot of gay art that focuses on the female market -- and this comes in the form of Japanese anime style. And while I do like the anime style, it is obvious that my tastes veer towards the "muscular type" gay art. Some fans who love bara ridicule anime art, saying that the guys are too girly -- and while I agree that they are too girly, I don't want to ridicule people who like girly guys. I mean, there ARE effeminate men in the world, and I am friends with some of them. It's simply a matter of preference.
However, girly bishounen in Japanese manga ARE consciously geared towards the female market, while we have those that focus on the gay market. I've discussed this in a former post, the comparison between gay art for girls and gay art for gays. My French gay friend last semester gave an interesting Japanese guide book to me entitled GAY NAVI, which tells you all the gay bars, clubs, massage parlors, shops, etc. found in Japan (especially in Tokyo). It's awesome but a bit disturbing because he marked the places he'd been to and put "X" or encircled them showing whether he liked the place or not. DUNDUNDUN
Anyway, included in GAY NAVI are lists of artists who draw gay manga or art, along with their websites. This gave me inspiration to make a recommendation list of Gay Art sites, not just Japanese ones but the Western style ones as well. I found TONS in the internet, and it felt weird, being a girl and looking at all these art that are obviously for the gay eyes only. I shall share them anyway, because I think they're hot. :P

Online shopping is so addicting! I'm collecting the Adventures of Tintin, which is one of my favourite comics ever (people just come in my room and read them). Also got a bunch of classic gay porn, and next time I'm planning on buying more The Beatles merchandise. ♥ I bought the new volume of Saint Young Men! ♥♥♥ It was pretty popular -- I fell in line and everyone else was buying the new release as well. It features Jesus and Buddha and their misfits during Valentine's Day, shopping sprees, and online gaming! I alternate between reading Tintin and Sherlock Holmes before going to bed. My problem now is how I'm going to ship all my manga, Japanese textbooks, and (English AND Japanese) novels back home...but I'll worry about that later @_@
I'll be gone for a while because I'm staying over at my host family's starting tomorrow. And WE'RE GOING TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY, LOL. After escaping an all-girl's Catholic school since first grade to highschool, it's so ironic that of all host families to choose me, I got the Japanese Christians. In a very SECULAR country, no less. It's alright, I've survived that ordeal, I can do it again. xD I'm very nervous though, since it's my first time sleeping over at a stranger's house, but it's an experience. I hope they like me. Wish me luck!

Contrary to popular belief, Japan is not all about mecha, samurai, ninjas, and lolis. It's not all about anime.
However, that does not stop me from buying random shiz, for myself and for other people. I swear to god, BOOK-OFF will be the death of me. They sell manga for only 105 yen, and the Book-off near our uni has an entire huge basement dedicated to books written in English. They even have cheap art books asdfghjkl; Most people spend on food, others spend on shopping. I splurge on books.
Everything is expensive in Tokyo, but if you convert anime merchandise and books in peso and then compare them to prices back at home then they're really cheap. Plus they have anime merchandise of ANYTHING. I have yet to see the used panties vending machine (and I don't really want to, anyway), but they do sell cookies featuring anime characters, and life-sized pillows with underwear-clad girls printed on them. Lol Japan.

STAR TREK PREMIERE NIGHT
So I was moping around because according to my f-list I am the last person who hasn't seen it yet, orz. I decided to go to Shinjuku with friends and to eat at an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu. Suddenly, I saw a huge crowd and THE USS ENTERPRISE gleaming from afar! There was a huge poster of Star Trek, and I immediately wet my pants with glee.
BEFORE I KNEW IT, I SAW JOHN CHO (Sulu), ZACHARY QUINTO (Spock) and KARL URBAN (McCoy) on the red carpet. In the flesh!!!11 I was squealing, but the rest of the Japanese were deadpan because they're not well-known actors. However, they started screaming when they saw X-Japan members. Lol. MEANWHILE I WAS ALL "YOU BITCHES DON'T KNOW ABOUT MY STAR TREK! OUTTA MY WAY!!!"

2. Nope, I haven't watched Star Trek because in Japan Hollywood movies show up 4232626 days later. 4. Last weekend we had a Japanese Cultural Day where we made ikebana, origami, calligraphy, and tried on kimonos. I was asked to be the female kimono model, which was embarrassing, but so worth it. After that, we held a costume party at the dorm, which ended up pretty...wild. xD

MILK.
Academy Award nominee Gus Van Sant directs Academy Award winner Sean Penn as gay-rights icon Harvey Milk. Mr. Milk (1930-1978) was an activist and politician, and the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America; in 1977, he was voted to the city supervisors' board of San Francisco.
Before I tackle the film's complexities, its role in our present day issues and the whole impact of Milk...I just have to say that when I saw the first kissing scene, and the next, and the next, the only thought I had was...

A while ago I was looking at photos from
1. Palawan, Philippines. Almost everybody and their mothers have been to this beach paradise. Palawan is said to have the best beaches in Southeast Asia, and all the photos and stories about caves and coral reefs and fishies make me yearn to go there. I CAN'T EVEN SWIM AT ALL and yet it has always been my dream to escape from urban troubles and stay there for at least a week!
2. Liverpool, England. Well, I really want to go to the U.K. in general to meet online friends, but another one of my reasons is to go on The Magical Mystery Tour. That's right, after seeing that journal entry I had this sudden and compelling desire to visit The Beatles museum, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, The Cavern, and to just simply make out with John Lennon's statue. I-It's not wrong to want that, right? Right?
3. The Museum of Modern Art, New York. As an art student who obsesses over paintings in her spare time, I think that it is highly important that I actually get to see and experience the paintings I've memorized by heart and felt a connection to. I know that when I actually see The Persistence of Memory and The Starry Night something inside me will keel over and die in happiness.

I have loads of places I want to go to, all wonderful and striking and important, but these are the five places that I really dream about a lot right now. What really depresses me sometimes is that there is always one thing that hinders me from reaching my dreams: MONEY. Living in a third world country you could say that I've grown accustomed (or resigned) to just fantasizing about places I only read in books and the internet. Sometimes I envy how lucky people are to get to actually just live there (especially people from Europe...they can just walk down the street and see the Louvre, etc. etc.) This is why I make it a point to visit all the best places I could here in the Philippines, so that I'm sure I've experienced my country first before exploring new terrain. :3

Anyway, Marcel shared to me a school project made my students of his friend, who's a teacher for kids. The project was to make a Children's Storybook, with illustrations. Needless to say we were both laughing our asses off because we could NOT get over the SURPRISE PLOT TWIST ENDING (Take note, it's supposed to be a children's story. I cannot stress it any further.)
This is truly a reflection of the times, a sick homage to Twilight and Simple Plan, or both. Le sigh.
Note: I'm not mocking the kids who made this. Just the whole...ridiculousness of the story. I'm like, what? Seriously?

Here is my original character "Naked Man" depicting images that are suspiciously similar to the iconic works of the great masters. ♥ I drew this out of boredom and eventually had so much fun working on it! I think this is a fun and crack-tastic way to review or teach certain artworks. :)

Can you guess which parcticular art is referenced? :D

These things defined the cartoons of my childhood:
Explosions. Lots of them.
Magical,shiny rings.
Moral lessons.
And
kotomine is right: catchy Rock and Roll opening themes.
It amazes me that these cartoons were all hand-drawn, with none of the easy technology that defines our "flash" cartoons in Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon nowadays.
So now I present to you My Top American Cartoons, in no particular order. This is not a list of THE BEST OF THE BEST, take note. They are the shows I've loved personally and have very fond memories of. ♥
(Disclaimer: My memories can be screwed up, but I base it on good feelings *laughs* It's like the X-files. As a kid I thought it was the scariest shit ever, and now I'm rewatching it and laughing at the lame special effects and gazing at Scully's hot lips. Ehem.)
