So like, I was reading Metal Gear Solid porn in our computer shop, not giving a shit about the manly men playing DOTA beside me who could clearly see that I was reading men making out and then some. I mean, these peons surely do not know Solid Snake and Otacon, right? RIIGHT?

Anyway, what crazy techniques do you usually employ to hide the fact that you're reading gay porn (or any porn for that matter), since there is always the possibility that your parents/little children/innocent co-workers are lurking behind the shadows?

When I'm reading fic, I usually reduce the size of the text to the smallest font I can read, and I resize the window and place it at the lower right corner of the screen. There must be some innocent webpage (like my e-mail...oh wait, that's not innocent enough) right next to it, to confuse the annoying customer that hovers behind my back. On the other hand, due to years of training and heightened senses, I have mastered the Click the Minimize button in a Half-Second or the Scroll Down Faster Than The Speed of Light techniques. These aren't 100% fool-proof, because last time I tried to hide something I was so anxious I ended up typing weird shit and the yaoi manga went into SLIDE SHOW mode, literally encompassing the whole screen. That was fucked up.

Usually I just wait until everybody's asleep. Dundundun...

Unfortunately, I'm not as cautious when it comes to storing said adult material. I've accidentally saved some in My Pictures, which everybody looks at. And my folder is public, and it has my name on it. I think the girl managing our computer shop is just completely unfazed by the amount of pornography found in all our computers. Meep.

I've been on a nostalgia-trip lately; if I'm sick of staring at my half-done papers I go watch old anime. And boy, does everything change when you view them as a nineteen-year-old who proudly lists "pornography" as entertainment.

Things in Anime That Have Escaped Me Completely Back in the Days When I Was a Wee Child (Yes We Were All Innocent Back Then)

1. I denied the gay in Card Captor Sakura, even if it was waving its ass at my face. When Sakura confessed to Yukito and it was revealed that Touya was Yukito's "number one" (CANON WORDS, PEOPLE), I deemed it as a loving, devoted friendship. Even when even Sakura shipped them in the end. The blatant pedophilia (TeradaxRika, MizukixTouya, heck almost everyone in this series) I also regarded as something weird, but pretty much a normal background plot device.

Card Captor Sakura = CUTESY? What, with Tomoyo's strange obsession? I still fucking ship SyaoranxSakura, anyway, and I won't let Tsubasa ruin my "feel-good" ship. CLAMP, YOU BITCHES

2. I shipped het in Gundam Wing. YES, ALL FIVE OF THEM. I paired up Quatre with Dorothy Catalonia. If that isn't fucked up, I don't know what is. (and you know what? I still don't like the gay. xD)

My big brother's blood pressure is abnormal so I decided to live a healthy lifestyle and promptly banned fried, oily food in the house (my parents are abroad, so I'm in charge for now ;_;). kotomine and I went to to grocery store and bought oranges, apples, bananas, imported apple cranberry juice and orange juice with pulp, salads, and a lot of other healthy stuff. What's ironic is that we spent so much money on fruits and vegetables, whereas unhealthy food costs less. It really is tough to live healthy if there is no other option. Seems like the food companies are determined to kill you. T_T

Why I wanted to go

1) Tradition. kotomine and I have been loyal yaoi con-goers, even back in the first time when we were just in a small, dark room, giggling to ourselves like a cult of sorts. The Lights-Out people call us "the sisters". I was underage back then. Haha!

2) To meet my online friends and friends I haven't seen for a while.


Why I ended up not going

1) I decided to marathon Flight of the Conchords instead. And I love it, most especially Jemaine, even if he looks retarded. But he's cool! *u*)/ You're so beautiful--like a tree. Or a high-class prostitute. The night before, I finished Watchmen, and a mind fresh from a Watchmen experience is not something one should have during the yaoi con.

2) I might see people I don't want to see. It's not that I hate them, it's just that they're a not-so-good reminder (lol understatement) of my recent past. I might end up sulking the whole day, which is a horrible sight to behold. Plus I won't make great company.

3) I'm not comfortable watching yaoi with a bunch of people I don't know. I know it's strange, but I just can't. I even watch my favourite movies and anime alone (or with my siblings, but we're used to each other). I like reading manga and comics alone, without a person peering behind me. I think it's a habit, but also because I regard reading/watching as a sacred, private ritual. If there will be mad fangirl squealing, it will be the one inside my head.

4) I've lost interest. kotomine feels the same. WHAT? MUSHROOM LOSING INTEREST IN YAOI? (Is it the end of the world?) No, no, no, it's not that. I am still flaming gay, as usual. And I ship gay like my life depends on it. But I'm not interested in the kind of yaoi that they sell or display anymore. Reason is, I'm a) broke and saving for graphic novels and b) the internet has spoiled me. I think of downloading instead. And if I'm not going to buy anything, then what's the use of me going there?

5) I've lost interest in anime conventions, generally. Conventions that aren't from up_ame. (because AME cons are always worth it and more :P). Most likely because I want to spend my money on classic Dvds and books. I have too many plushies, pins, cards, and other anime merchandise already.

6) I'm interested, however, in the Comic-Con. So yeah, hope to see you there? :D
